The Martian – Review

RATING:8.5/10

The Gist of It:
A movie about the discovery of the red planet and how Mark Watney survived alone up there. Full with state of the art effects, the movie is nothing like Interstellar in terms of plot but it doesn’t mean the movie is bad. Some of your friends would say this movie is related to Interstellar, we can assure you it’s not.

Mark Watney played by Matt Damon, is a mechanical engineer who was left stranded on Mars during a manned mission. Of course he been left behind wasn’t actual the entire plan.
As they was wrapping up their mission due to an unscheduled storm, Mark was left behind and due to the situation the crew – played by Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara,Michael Peña and Sebastian Stan believed that Mark has been the person to die in Mars. This news was also transferred to Nasa Director, Teddy Sanders and he announced to do world how the life of a hero of Mars was taken away.
Coming out of the sand, Mark was a injure but nothing life threatening. He decides to survive his ill fated situation by using his out the world botanic skills and make contact.
The direction and screenplay is something we are astound as it’s as written by Andy Weir. Matt Damon ofcourse played the part beautifully with humor and emoticons. The Martian could be the space version of Tom Hank’s Castaway. As Mark constantly talking to himself and observing his surroundings.1
By the way, this movie gets even better with a fan made map of highway that Mark Watney walked. Check it out here:

If you love Cast Away and Interstellar, The Martian should a must watch movie for you and one of the best movie so far this year. With its magical effects and out this world attention to detail, it’s a movie not to be missed.

Favourite Line: “Screw you Mars”

TAKEN 3 – Contest(ENDED)

Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered.  Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.

In Taken, which became a global box-office sensation, distinguished actor and multi-award winner Liam Neeson, became the cinema’s newest and perhaps most unexpected action hero.  At the same time, the gravity he brings to the role of Bryan Mills provides added depth to the film series, which constantly flirts with the codes of the genre.  In a manner that’s original for a thriller, Bryan is as much defined by his love for his family as he is for his lethal skillset.

The character’s unique qualities helped propel Taken to box-office glory, as it became of the one of the surprise hits of 2008.  A few years later, Neeson, producer-screenwriter Luc Besson, and screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen returned for Taken 2, with Olivier Megaton taking the directorial reins.  Once again, audiences cheered Neeson as an overprotective father whose skills – forged through years of covert ops – continue to be put to the test long after his retirement from the CIA.
Scheduled for release beginning January 8th, 2015, the film will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Film. For more info on the movie, visit https://www.facebook.com/foxmovies.my.

The “Black” James Bond

During the chaotic hack of Sony Pictures, there one particular email that caught our attention; Idris Elba replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond. Earlier this year, there was some rumors about this but this was just on the surface but this kinda confirms it.
But however not all were pleased this news, one in particular is the flamboyant Rush Limbaugh. Rush last week lashed out on this talk show that a black bond just is not traditional.

” He was white and Scottish, period.  That is who James Bond is.  But now Sony is suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton rather than a white from Scotland.  But that’s not who James Bond is, and I know it’s racist to probably even point this out,” said the radio announcer.

He continue with view on the news by saying,”That’s right.  We had 50 years of white Bonds because Bond is white.  Bond was never black.  Ian Fleming never created a black Brit to play James Bond.  The character was always white. He was always Scottish.  He always drank vodka shaken not stirred and all that.”

Of course Idris Elba were not that pleased but however the Briton replied to Rush’s criticism with a slight dash of sarcastic tweet – “Isn’t 007 supposed to [be] handsome?”
