Taken 3 – Review

If you felt Taken 2 was “Lather, Rinse & Repeat” then Taken 3 is “Someone Forgot To Turn On The Washing Machine”. What should’ve been a one-off, Taken becomes a Straight-to-TV trilogy.

It ends here? I sure hope so.

Synopsis
When an ex-covert operative (Liam Neeson) is framed for the murder of his wife (Famke Janssen), he not only has to find who murdered her but do so while evading the pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the Police (Forest Whitaker). DeView
Well, I’ll try to start with the “good” since there’s barely any “good” in this movie to be honest. The acting was as good as it possibly could be given the stereo-typically written characters.

There, that’s “good” done. Really, that’s it. Now on to the bad.

Taken 3’s scenes felt rather choppy, as if they had a deadline and editing had to be completed in the final 30 minutes. I’m not gonna get into any details as those would be spoilers but there is gonna be a tight situation for the protagonist and he’d get out of it with zero explanation as if they forgot to film a scene or something. Besides that, there’s the cheesy cliche of flipping stuff across your fingers if you’re in deep thought like the baddie in Casino Royale and his love for poker chips. The movie is written by Luc Besson, who makes pretty entertaining French movies but is pretty rubbish when it comes to English movies except for Leon the Professional, that was a good movie.

Olivier Megaton (Taken 3's director) saying to his audience, "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. If you watch Taken 3, I will not only take your money but I will waste an hour and a half of your life as well."

Rating (3/10)

Should’ve been a “straight-to-Cinemax” type of movie. The cast’s acting ability is limited by cliche filled characters. Bad directing, generic plot. You’d probably forget about Taken 3 a week after watching it.

Unfortunately, not boss enough to save this movie.

TAKEN 3 – Contest(ENDED)

Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered.  Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.

In Taken, which became a global box-office sensation, distinguished actor and multi-award winner Liam Neeson, became the cinema’s newest and perhaps most unexpected action hero.  At the same time, the gravity he brings to the role of Bryan Mills provides added depth to the film series, which constantly flirts with the codes of the genre.  In a manner that’s original for a thriller, Bryan is as much defined by his love for his family as he is for his lethal skillset.

The character’s unique qualities helped propel Taken to box-office glory, as it became of the one of the surprise hits of 2008.  A few years later, Neeson, producer-screenwriter Luc Besson, and screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen returned for Taken 2, with Olivier Megaton taking the directorial reins.  Once again, audiences cheered Neeson as an overprotective father whose skills – forged through years of covert ops – continue to be put to the test long after his retirement from the CIA.
Scheduled for release beginning January 8th, 2015, the film will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Film. For more info on the movie, visit https://www.facebook.com/foxmovies.my.
